WHAT DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP INVOLVE?
Permanent makeup, also known as semi-permanent makeup, permanent cosmetics or micropigmentation, is the process of introducing pigment to the top layers of the skin. It is a form of tattoo, which is why it is sometimes known as ‘cosmetic tattooing’. Because of its lasting and natural appearance, permanent makeup can enhance existing features, such as brows, eyes and lips, adding color and definition in a subtle yet precise way.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Permanent makeup is designed to help you to make the best of the features you already have. A common misconception is that permanent makeup should drastically alter or change your appearance. Permanent makeup application undoubtedly makes a difference aesthetically, but it should be a subtle enhancement, not an obvious change.

WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER A PERMANENT MAKEUP PROCEDURE?
To start with we will always determine your objectives during an initial consultation. This is really important, as it’s vital that you are confident and comfortable with the procedure. A design will be outlined for you to see before the treatment begins, so you can clearly see how the finished result will look. Once the design has been confirmed, the procedure will begin.

During a permanent makeup procedure pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin using a very fine needle. Your procedure may take up to an hour up to two hours depending on the type of design being applied. An anesthetic cream is applied before the procedure. Some discomfort may be experienced.

You can expect your design to be a little darker in appearance immediately following the procedure. Once healed your permanent makeup will be softer than the original color about (30-50%). Permanent makeup naturally fades over time, so you’ll need to come back for a follow-up appointment and regular touch-ups every 12 to 18 months. There are also some very important steps to be followed both prior to and after your permanent makeup procedure takes place. All good practitioners will ensure that you’re fully aware of these so that you can schedule your appointment appropriately.

IS PERMANENT MAKEUP RIGHT FOR ME?
There are many different reasons why clients opt for permanent makeup procedures. Most often it’s a combination of convenience and enhanced confidence. Permanent makeup can drastically reduce the time you spend getting ready in the morning, doesn’t smudge during work-outs, and is also a great alternative for those who have trouble applying makeup on a daily basis.

Permanent makeup offers an overall improvement with a natural effect, yet it can still have a noticeably positive impact. Eyeliner can define the eyes for example making them appear larger, whereas the brows (one of the key features of the face) can be enhanced to frame the face. Often this can achieve a lifting, anti-aging or redefining effect.

It’s good to learn as much as you can before you make a decision to opt for permanent makeup. If you would like further information about permanent makeup, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
